What you should know about WOLFKLOOF FARM

Farm in Robertson, Accommodation Services in Robertson, Wine in Robertson

A Child’s Dream comes from a dream the young Frederick John Kannemeyer (then 7) had when he took a bottle and filled it with tea, sealed and labelled it. It is ideally situated, 160km from Cape Town and is a little gem on the border of Robertson. The first wine was made in 2004, a Merlot made in a traditional French style. The fermentation starts spontaneously, without using any yeast on the berries or juice. After fermentation, when res-sugar is below 2 balling, the wine goes to the barrels, waiting for the second process of fermentation to start, namely malalactic fermentation. The wine is kept for one year in barrels, thereafter it is bottled and kept in the cellar for another year, before releasing. The etymology eventually led J.C. Kannemeyer from Wolfkloof to produce and bottle his own wine. Pallet: Candyfloss, Strawberries, low on acidity, great summer wine for drinking and dining on the patio. Food: Light summer salads with tomatoes that compliment the acidity, lemon flavours, light meats like crab and calamari and sushi. Nose: Blueberry compose, jammy, strawberries with light smokey notes after leaving the wine for a while to breath. Food: Tomato/puttanesca sauce pasta, chicken cordon blue with very strong cheese and salami/ham and cheese so that the acidity can balance the richness of the food (wine can work both ways either compliment the acidity or balance the richness) Wine Awards. The cellar is set within a mass of green and offers a magnificent view of Langeberg Mountain Range and the town of Robertson in the distance. A wooden deck allows you to reach out and touch the vineyard, which gives every season its unique beauty. The valley is known for its fruit orchards and the Robertson Wine Valley is one of the countries’ favourite wine routes. The Breede River running through the valley feeds the vineyards and orchards. It is a beautiful lush green valley and you don’t have to drive anywhere to have an unforgettable honeymoon. The area offers various kinds of accommodation in town and out of town. Swim in the Breede River, taste the wines of this fertile valley and enjoy the historical beauty of the town. Robertson offers all you need for a perfect wedding: beauticians, photographers, caterers, florists, the wedding cake, excellent wines and our superb venue. It is situated a stones throw from the town of Robertson, but is secluded because of its unique setting in the Langeberg mountains. Offering you all the modern luxuries, such as a fully equipped kitchen, in old world charm. Wolfkloof is a working boutique winery and the cellar forms part of the venue. The interior has a warm wooden glow completed with reed ceilings and poplar beams. Huge double cellar doors create a historic ambiance and brings home the feel of the winelands. The indoor area opens up with high double doors (glass) to the deck area allowing free flow between the two. Equipped with Fully licensed and stocked bar (barman and glasses included) We have no accommodation on the estate, but are fortunate to be located bordering Robertson, giving you the peace of mind concerning travelling, with the experience of having your special day on a Wine Estate. A full list of preferred accommodation supplied on request, something to suit all budgets.
